Monday Evenings:

6:00 ish to 9:00 P.M.  Bring your projects and work on them with our friendly knitting bunch. Everyone is welcome. Bring a smile and your projects. We often teach new people how to knit during this time. It’s Free

Wednesday Mornings:

10:00 to 12:00 A.M. This is our sampling Class. We knit and/or crochet dish cloths and other small household items during this time. Everyone is welcome. Just come with a selection of needle. $5.

Thursday Mornings:  

10:00 to 12:00 – This is our open spinning and knitting time. You can come to spin or do what ever. Carolyn and I will be spinning. Bring your wheels or your projects. The coffee pot is on. It’s Free

APRIL
Friday, April 13Exploring Double Knitting!

This class will be knitting Nancy Lindberg’s Double Knit Headband which is similar to her Dbl Knit hat shown here. You will be starting with an invisible cast on and will learn how to knit two layers of fabric at one time.
$25 Class fee plus a materials fee / 12:00 – 4:00


Tuesday, April 15 – Double Knitting on straight needles

You will knit a circular case on straight needles. Learn the magic of double- knitting while knitting this case which you will later felt.
$20 Class fee plus small materials fee / 6:00 – 9:00

 


Wednesday, April 16 – Finishing Helps

Does finishing get you down? Do you wonder how to best Put those seams together? Are your projectssitting in pieces waiting to be finished? Then this is the class for you. Bring a project that you need help with or just your questions and get the help that you need.
$25. 10:00 – 2:00


Thursdays, April 17 & 24 -Knit a Net Shopping Bag!

Join our BYOB ( Bring Your Own Bag ) program and knit this great shopping bag in Bamboo from South West Trading. This net bag has a pocket Bottom to fold the bag into and store when not in use.
$25 plus materials 1:00 – 3:00

 

Friday, April 18 & 25 - Learn to Spin.

Carolyn has taught this class a number of time this Fall with many happy people leaving spinning wonderful yarn. You will start with a drop spindle and then move to a wheel, in this class for people who want to learn to spin their own yarn. I always like to tell people that the word for spinning in Swedish is the same as the word for a cat purring. Spinning is much more then a technique to make yarn it is a relaxing pastime. This class is limited by the number of wheels that we have available so if you are interested, register early!
$40 plus a small materials fee to cover the wool. You may use drop spindles and
wheels that are available here. 10:00 2:00

Saturday, April 19 - Beginning Knitting For The Left-Handed Knitter

Carolyn is a leftie and she will help all of you left-handed knitters get started as well as those who just need some pointers from a fellow left-handed knitter. It isn’t as simple as looking in a mirror or sitting across from a right-handed knitter but it isn’t all that hard either. You just need another leftie to help you out!
$25 plus materials

Monday, April 21 - The Julia Hat

This adorable hat, knit in Julia yarn from Nashua, is from Interweave Press' Folk Style book. We will be making kits for the Class with different color ways for you to choose from.
$25 Class fee plus kit fee / 10:00 – 2:00

 

Tuesday, April 22 – A Repeat of the April 13 Double Knitting Class 5:30 – 9:30

Wednesdays, April 23 30 – Crochet a Sampler Pillow

You will use 6 different crochet patterns while making a pillow. This is a great project for learning new pattern stitches and you will have a nice pillow when done.
$25 plus materials 9:30 – 12:00

 

Saturday, April 26 - Felted Beret

This is a great hat and a fun one to knit. Whether you’re an old hand at knitting and felting hats or this will be your first one you will learn new techniques and enjoy wearing your hat when you are done. This is also a great beginner’s first project in the round!
$25 Class Fee  plus materials 10:00 – 2:00


Sunday, April 27 – a Repeat of the April 16 Finishing Helps class – 10:00-2:00

Monday, April 27 – Beginning Sock Knitting

You will make a pair of baby size socks. But when you leave you will get a pattern created just for your foot.

Saturday, May 3 – Mittens & Wristlets

This may seem like a strange time to offer a mitten class but what better time then now to start those Christmas presents and what better present can you think of for our Minnesota winters? Anyway if you start now, you may have mastered mitten knitting by winter and they are a nice small knitting project to carry around when traveling and people have asked for this class.
$25 plus materials 10:00 – 2:00

Wednesday, May 7 - Felted Fiesta Bag

This has been a popular pattern that we have knitted up in the shop in South West Trading’s Karaoke Yarn. Since we will have a Karaoke Trunk Show here during this time, we figured that this is a good time to offer this as a class. The bag pattern gives 3 sizes and you may choose to knit any of the 3 sizes for the class and then you will take it home to felt it.
$25 plus materials 9:30 – 12:30

 

Tuesday, April 13 - Crochet Gruffle Balls

This is our project for National Pet Week. These easy to crochet balls are great for small dogs or cats. You will quickly learn how to make them and then can have some for your own pets and to donate to the animal shelter in your area.
$20 plus materials or free if you donate a ball to our local shelter! 6:00 – 9:00

Monday, May 19 – The Waterfall Scarf Or Shaw

This summer weight scarf uses a dropped stitch technique. Using rayon or rayon blend yarns, it is light and airy but easy to knit
$25 plus materials fee – 10:00 to 2:00

Wednesday, May 21 - Beginning Crochet – Crochet a Tomato Pin Cushion in The Round

This is a great beginning class for learning to crochet in a circle, increase and decrease – the techniques needed to crochet a hat for example. And when you get done, you have a useful pin cushion.
$20 plus materials - 10:00 to 12:00


Thursday, May 22 - Beginning Knitting

This is your chance to take a beginning knitting Class. If you are a knitting want-a-be and haven’t had a chance to take a class, this is a great opportunity for you to learn.
$15 Class Fee / 12:00 – 2:00

Friday April 30 – Make Your Felting Pop!

We’ll play with texture and shape and different techniques. We will be making sample pieces. You can later take your favorites to create new garments and accessories. This class will take your felting beyond a bag, slippers or even mittens. A class for the adventurous knitter who isn’t afraid to sample or try something new $25 plus materials 6:00 – 9:00.

JUNE

We aren’t finished with June yet but here is what we have so far!

Mondays, June 2 & 9 - Knit Day a Tie For Father’s Day

Use self striping sock yarn and knit this tie for dad or for any other guy in your life. You can even wear it yourself! This is a chance to pick out a tie that you will like for dad.
$25 plus materials 10:00 – 2:00


Wednesdays, June 11 & 18 – Beaded Purse

I wish that I could tell you more about this one but it isn’t done yet! Lets just say that it will be a small evening bag that will use a number of bead knitting techniques.

Thursday, June 12 – Beginning Knitting

This is your chance to take a beginning knitting Class. If you are a knitting want-a-be and haven’t had a chance to take a class, this is a great opportunity for you to learn.

Thursday June 26 - A repeat of April 16’s Finishing class 10:00 – 2:00

SPECIAL SUMMER ACTIVITIES

Alternate Tuesdays starting June 10 from 10:00 til…… We will be dyeing in the back yard.

We put the pots on about 9:30 in the morning and play until sometime in the afternoon. You can bring something to dye or get something here. We will play with different dye techniques and materials. So just drop in. The cost will depend on how much you have to dye and what we are using but it is never more then $5.

SHEEP TO SHAWL CONTEST

This will be a one day event and we are inviting teams to come and spin, and knit or weave a shawl. The shawls will be donated to a Women’s shelter as part of the Shelia’s Shawl Project . More information as it becomes available.
